Let’s get jiggy.

There’s nothing like waking up at just after 02h00am to use the loo, and realising that you’re also not going to be able to snooze again. So you lie in bed until 03h00am until you really have to get up and end up walking face first into a spider web which has been spun during the course of the night. *sigh* nothing wakes a girl up quicker, heart pounding, than doing the ‘Trapped in a web’ version 2.5 jig so early in the morning!

So, to all my arachnid squatters who are uninvited and most unwelcome: I’m only 4ft11 for pete’s sake. Show some respect and spin your webs at least 6ft up from the ground. Pffft.

An update on little e-storage:

Hubby was stressing on Tuesday that his little adopted Barn Sparrow was not taking the raw mince to heart (and stomach) very well and contacted C.R.O.W. to discuss the feeding and care of the little mite only to find out that mince should not be given to the bird as it’s still far too small and young. He was advised to rather feed it ProNutro mixed with water, and the little mite has been doing so much better.

A bird in the hand.

What appears to be grey feathers in the wings is actually bald patches. He still needs to grow all his feathers!

Dizzy at this height!

He’s taken to tweeting to let hubby know it’s feeding time, and once he’s had his fill of food, he clambers up hubby’s shirt and sits gripping his shirt and tweets away merrily!

Gripping the edge of hubby’s shirt for dear life!

I hope he continues to flourish πŸ˜‰

  1. I hate spiders too – especially when I walk into a web – bet I can do a better jig than you! πŸ˜‰
The update on your tiny sparrow is much welcomed, I’ve been wondering how he’s been doing. Glad you got his food sorted out quickly – he looks to be thriving now! Keep us updated on the little fellow please.

    • Heehee, we’ll have to get someone to record us then the bloggers can vote! Or not πŸ™‚
I was so chuffed when hubby called to tell me how well he’s doing. I’ll see him tomorrow evening when hubby comes home for the weekend so will be sure to take some photos and update you again.

  2. So glad the birdie is doing well.
No comment on the spider thing 😦

  3. Good that you guys checked on the feeding!!!

    • The first place I spoke to was a barn sparrow migration centre. Who would have thunk they gave us the wrong info!

  4. how do spiders know how tall you are? I am 5ft7 and I also get the webs in my face! The bird is like a little baby πŸ™‚

    • I’m sure they measure us while we’re sleeping, Tandy, so they can erect custom built webs!
Lol, at least there’s no nappies to change!

  5. Glad he’s doing well.

  6. I once raised a lorikeet from real small. It also didn’t have any feathers yet. It was awesome. It was so tame it would sit in my pocket.

    • That must have been amazing! We hand reared a baby mynah (as bald as a table tennis ball) once and it stayed with us and the two cats we had for years. He would scratch holes in the garden alongside my mom as she dug holes for seedlings.

  7. this is wonderful. so many of the baby birds just don’t survive. maybe it’s the warmth too that helps.

Your hubby is going to be like Angelor – hand raising all those birds

    • I’m sure the warmth also helps tremendously.

Lol, he’s been teased at work and at the guest house for being a good ‘mom’!

  8. awwwww, cuteness overload. Please take care of her and keep her warm and cozy πŸ™‚ Have you seen the movie, The BIrdman of Alcatraz. If not, see it. True story

    • I’m afraid the little mite died during the night 😦
A brilliant movie, one that I saw years back.

      Thanks for the visit.

  9. Eeeewwww! Spiders!! Double Eeeewwww!!

Cute birdie! So glad it’s doing better.

  10. way cute.
can’t help wondering of course who gets to care for the cuteness when hubby is away for extended work days?

    • Hubby found it where he’s working at the moment, so would have brought it home for the weekend but would also have taken it back with him.
He’s away for a month at a time, coming home for one weekend after every 4 weeks and then he’s off again.

  11. oh dear, poor baby.

  12. Oh Dear…that is so sad.

  13. I am glad you saw the movie. awww the little mite died 😦 But given that you gave him a name, tells me that you took care of him as much as you could.
